U.S. Bank Tower Observation Deck

U.S. Bank Tower Observation Deck

Los Angeles, California

The U.S. Bank Tower opened in 1990 as the first supertall building in the Western United States, with a vertical stretch of 73 floors, an impressive curved façade and a reputation for being the tallest structure situated in a seismically active area. In 2013, OUE, a Singapore-based global investment firm, purchased the building and soon after began looking for ways to introduce a global tourism element to the tower—an element that was lacking in downtown Los Angeles.

Having defined the skyline experience in Dallas with Reunion Tower in 1978, Woodbine was the ideal company to do the same for L.A., which is why we invited the OUE team to Dallas to visit Reunion Tower. Seeing was believing for OUE and led to a partnership. Woodbine developed the project, bringing to life a lofty tourism experience in their tower overlooking the City of Angels.

Completed in 2016, OUE’s Skyspace is both a global tourist attraction and event venue—one that generated much excitement and global press at its grand opening. The experience features a 45-foot Skyslide that runs along the exterior of the tower, an observation deck and an interactive technology level. In addition to realizing OUE’s dream to enhance downtown tourism, Skyspace also generates an additional revenue stream for ownership.
